The Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards
Congratulations to our fantastic Hospiscare@Home nursing team for winning the prestigious End of Life Care Award at the Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards after just one full year of operation.
The Awards recognise innovation and excellence in the not-for-profit care and support sector. They are the awards that celebrate the unsung heroes; the people who have a huge impact but don't really see how special they are. These are the awards that celebrate the diversity of the charity sector.
The award recognises the commitment, compassion and professionalism of our Hospiscare@Home team and the expert care they provide to our patients and their families. The judges were particularly impressed with how we endeavour to provide true individualised care for patients and their families at the end of their lives, and the kind manner in which we work alongside our communities.
Hospiscare@Home is a wonderful addition to end-of-life care provision in our local community. It is available to all patients of GP Surgeries in Exmouth and Lympstone suffering with a life-limiting condition. It provides specialist hands-on nursing care and advice in the patient's own home, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, supporting patients who wish to remain at home at the end of their lives. Bringing the expertise of the Hospice into the home, Hospiscare@Home is an extension of the clinical services already provided by Exmouth & Lympstone Hospiscare and fills the gap between acute hospital care and the care offered by other support agencies.
The Hospiscare@Home service in Exmouth, Lympstone, Budleigh Salterton and the surrounding villages is funded entirely by Exmouth & Lympstone Hospiscare and Budleigh Salterton & District Hospiscare. It has added significantly to our costs and, as a financially independent charity receiving no NHS, government or other public funding, we rely entirely on local donor support.
