Lympstone Open Garden
Ki and Mona Moudry very kindly opened their Lympstone garden
for Exmouth & Lympstone Hospiscare on Sunday 7th June. There
was a lovely display of plants and shrubs showing off their best in
the bright sunshine. Plots of vegetables and stunning Bonsai were
also a delight to see. With plenty of eager gardeners looking
around it was nice to finish off with a delicious cream tea
overlooking the Exe estuary. Including plants and cakes a terrific
£415 was raised - so our very grateful thanks to the Moudrys.

As we entered the New Year, we sent a 'Letter' to the Exmouth
Journal thanking them for their coverage of our events during 2015,
explaining that Exmouth & Lympstone Hospiscare rely so much on
the kindness of local residents to raise the £225,000 p.a. needed,
as we receive no Government funding, to ensure our Nurses can
continue to care for local family members in Exmouth and
Lympstone.
In December alone local people showed their support in many ways
- our stall at the Christmas Market raised £400; Kim, a patient's
daughter, whose Christmas Fair raised more than £550, the late
John Onley's paintings raised £2,700, huge support from TSB, local
companies Moore's Pasties and AIM Exhibitions Ltd generously
donated refreshments for our Christmas Concert featuring the St.
David's Singers and the Lympstone Training Band - and Tesco
customers rounded off a busy but wonderful month by putting a
tremendous £1,182 into volunteers' buckets on our Collection Day!
Thank you everyone for supporting our Fundraising Team's efforts
so we can continue to offer local families our services when they
need them most.
Exmouth & Lympstone Hospiscare are always pleased to support
this village event not only to fundraise, but also to meet and chat
to local people.  As in previous years, the team's stall was mainly
games for the children - but this still raised £154!  Our sincere
thanks to everyone including The Globe for their generous donation
of £20.  The winner of the cuddly dog looking for a home was Chris
Binmore - a very happy result for both!
Two people also expressed an interest in becoming volunteer
drivers for our Charity as well as an offer of an Open Garden in 201

The tide table was checked ,the date set and the new owners of
Terry Darvilles house on the Marina set about reinstating this most
popular event . John & Jenny Bradridge with some willing neighbours
did an extraordinary fantastic job of ensuring that Canapés was a
success. Take 4 provided the music –Terry enlisted the help of
Antonios , Beacon Vaults plus many ladies who provided the endless
trays of delicious canapés whilst Dave Williams and his bartenders
kept every ones glasses topped up. All who arrived dug deep into
their wallets for the raffle and auction prizes, all of which had been
donated by local people and businesses.

The final total for the evening was  £3250 – a record for this event .
Our sincere thanks to John & Jenny and all involved – your hard work
is sincerely appreciated and the money will  be used wisely .

SPRING FUN DAY

Our event season is underway once again, and the sun shone on us
all in The Strand.

This popular event in the centre of Exmouth in support of the 2016
Carnival attracted lots of people and there was a wonderful
atmosphere with singers and dancing, in lovely sunshine.

Exmouth & Lympstone Hospiscare this year have a new team helping
with events, and got off to a flying start!  Our stall was selling Ian
Dowell’s popular Exmouth books, as well as things to attract children
such as ‘Hook a duck’ and the 50/50 game for adult supporters of
the charity.  We raised £210 for the Charity and our thanks to all the
volunteers who manned our stall and also to everyone who visited
our stall for their support in many different ways.
